Belief Made Practical

Nhlupheko Foundation is a nonprofit organisation creating pathways for people and communities to move forward. From education and employment to community care, personal development and sport, we provide practical support that helps people overcome hardship, develop their potential and build more secure futures. Our work is grounded in Ubuntu: the understanding that individual progress strengthens families, communities and future generations.

Uplifting the Community for Greater Purpose
Purpose through play
Sport creates a place to belong and a path towards a different future.
Led by Mpho Stanley and his wife, Elizabeth Moela, Uplifting the Community for Greater Purpose uses sport to help keep children and young people away from the streets and drugs. Mpho is blind and Elizabeth lives with albinism, but they have refused to let disability or stigma limit the contribution they make to their community. Nhlupheko Foundation supported the organisation with four soccer balls, a full soccer kit, uniforms for the coaching staff and food for the boys, helping create a place where young people can play, belong and choose a more positive path.
Give Them Hope Care Centre
A place to grow
A safe and caring environment gives every child the opportunity to grow.
Founded in 2009 by Pinky Mothiba, Give the Hope Foundation cares for children living with HIV, children who have been orphaned or abandoned, and those whose parents are ill or unable to provide for them. During a recent visit, Nhlupheko Foundation witnessed the organisation’s commitment to giving children the care and stability they deserve. At the heart of its work is a simple belief: every child should have access to food, clothing and shelter, together with the opportunity to grow up healthy in both body and mind.
Simphiwe “Mshishi” Mngwengwe
Education, environment and purpose
Transport and school support opened the way to compete, represent a community and keep growing.
More than R50,000 in outstanding tuition once prevented Simphiwe “Mshishi” Mngwengwe from registering for the next academic year. Nhlupheko Foundation settled the debt in full and continued supporting the devices, resources and costs his university journey required. Simphiwe completed his Master’s degree and graduated in 2026. He is now pursuing a PhD with the Foundation’s continued support. A six-time Comrades Marathon finisher, he also completed a 150 km run from Toti to Port Edward through his Run for Nature initiative, raising awareness about marine ecosystems, beaches, rivers and natural heritage.
Makoma Lebea
Education, employment and stability
A second chance became a qualification, a career and a more stable future.
When Nhlupheko Foundation connected with Makoma Lebea, it gave her what she describes as a second chance. The Foundation helped her return to school through a bursary that covered tuition, food and transport, allowing her to complete her N6 in Electrical Engineering without worrying about daily costs. Nhlupheko Foundation’s support also helped her secure work in the mining sector, where she is gaining experience in construction, plant operations and underground work. Even after she started working, the support continued through free accommodation within walking distance of her workplace, allowing her to save on transport and rent. For Makoma, the impact is bigger than a qualification or a job: it is hope, stability and the chance to build a better future.
Thulani Sibiya
Employment, skills and stability
A work opportunity restored stability and the dignity of providing.
Before Nhlupheko Foundation’s support, Thulani Sibiya carried the cost of every pair of running shoes, race entry and trip to a start line himself. The Foundation’s help removed that financial pressure, but the most important change happened beyond running. Thulani had been unemployed and struggling to provide for the people who depend on him. The opportunity to work meant he could earn a living, put food on the table and support his children’s needs. The work also became a classroom: through each task he developed practical skills he can rely on throughout his working life. What began as support for an athlete became employment, confidence and a more stable foundation for his family.
Zeinel Tsipa
Sport, work and independence
Belief that opens practical doors
Nhlupheko Foundation’s support has helped Zeinel Tsipa pursue both sporting and professional growth. By covering his sporting needs and expenses, the Foundation gave him room to focus on training, competing and improving. A work opportunity then helped him grow, become more independent and begin building a more secure future. For Zeinel, the impact is not only financial: it is the belief behind the support, the confidence that someone sees his talent, invests in his dreams and expects him to succeed. That belief keeps him motivated and focused every day.
